Empowering Sipalay’s Youth: YABONG Philippines Brings Digital Innovation and Opportunity Through DigiConomy

The digital economy is transforming how we work, connect, and innovate. Recognizing the need to equip young Filipinos with essential digital skills, YABONG Philippines, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Sipalay City through its Executive Action Program Unit, conducted the DigiConomy Training on February 26–28, 2025, at the Social Hall of the New Government Center in Brgy. Gil Montilla, Sipalay City.

Empowering the Next Generation

Founded in 2018, YABONG Philippines is a youth-led non-profit organization dedicated to youth empowerment through governance and media information literacy. True to its name, meaning "flourishing," YABONG continues to provide young leaders with tools and knowledge to thrive in the digital age.

With the rise of remote work, online businesses, and digital careers, the DigiConomy Training was designed to equip participants with practical skills in digital marketing, content creation, social media management, and affiliate marketing. More than just theories, the program emphasized real-world applications to help young people secure opportunities in the digital economy.

A Training Ground for Digital Innovators

The three-day training focused on key objectives that align with YABONG’s vision for the Filipino youth:

  • Skill Development – Participants learned essential digital marketing strategies and social media management techniques.
  • Economic Empowerment – The training provided insights on how to monetize digital skills through freelancing, entrepreneurship, and online work.
  • Youth Leadership – The program encouraged young Sipalaynons to become digital leaders and community innovators.

Special sessions featured expert discussions by:

  • Hans Joseph Tulayan on "Unboxing Digital Marketing and Branding 101"
  • Ferville Grace Tripoli on "Content Creation 101"
  • Dun Concha Abiera, Founder and Managing Director of YABONG Philippines and CEO of Work Beyond Borders, who shared valuable insights on client acquisition and entrepreneurship

A Commitment to Youth Empowerment

The training also underscored the strong partnership between YABONG Philippines and the Local Government of Sipalay City. In a meeting with City Mayor Maria Gina M. Lizares, she expressed her full support for youth empowerment initiatives and highlighted the importance of digital literacy in today’s rapidly evolving society.

Additionally, Ms. Kath Maguad - Jocame, Local Youth Development Officer IV of Sipalay City, played a key role in supporting and facilitating the program, further strengthening efforts to empower the city's youth through digital innovation.

Through programs like DigiConomy, YABONG Philippines continues to open doors for young Filipinos, providing them with skills and opportunities to compete in the global digital landscape.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning. As we continue our advocacy, YABONG Philippines remains committed to expanding DigiConomy to more communities—ensuring that no young Filipino is left behind in the digital age.
